The dirtbird cleans up

Cleaning
Okay, so the summer break is almost over which means you’re life as well. Say farewell to liberty and freedom because you won’t see those two guys for a long time my friend. Now you should switch from  lazy bum modus to…well lazy student modus (or something like that). Yay motivation!

Just to let you know my room is a complete mess! I cleaned it up right at the start of the summer break, but now it looks like there was a typhoon. Currently, I’m trying to put books in the right order, empty my desk and above all, get rid of all possible items which I, with a certainty of 90%, won’t need or make good use of in the next 50 years.

However, this turns out to be quite a difficult task for me as I’m what people would call a saver. Recently, I just filled a whole box with childhood junk. I’m that kind of person who likes to hold on to memories and this works best if you keep all the stuff that helps you remember. Dwelling in the past, being nostalgic- terms I’m very familiar with. Not that I’m not forward thinking or future-oriented, trust me, my mind is always at least one week ahead, but I like to reflect on the past once in a while, especially focusing on mistakes I might’ve made.

That’s not exactly positive thinking and any shrink would slap me now, but what can I do? Saying goodbye always makes me sad, but whenever I filled another box with odds and ends, there isn’t only space in my room again. It’s a process to clear your mind, as well as a new beginning.

Wow, how poetic my explanation on tidying up just turned out.
